Description

Tough Like Justin

In honor of Justin, donations to benefit Dr. Robyn Gartrell, Assistant Professor of Oncology and Pediatrics within the Division of Pediatric Oncology at the Johns Hopkins Kimmel Cancer Center will support her research to identify advanced treatment options for kids with DIPG.

Dr. Gartrell's research seeks to understand the immune response to DIPG specifically after treatment with radiation. She has been studying a new radiation technique called FLASH, which is super-fast delivery of radiation found to be safer, especially in the brain, and has a different effect on immune cells compared to standard radiation. She is hoping to leverage this immune response by combining FLASH or standard radiation with immunotherapy in DIPG.
