AJ was a beloved son and cherished member of a large, loving family who found joy in the simplest and most meaningful moments. Though nonverbal, AJ had his own wonderful way of communicating—with his expressive eyes, infectious smile, unmistakable side-eye, and a belly laugh that could brighten a room. He loved affection, music, family gatherings, van rides, watching his favorite shows, and especially the colorful glow of his beloved disco party lights. Those lights became so much a part of AJ that they traveled with him during hospital stays, bringing a familiar piece of home wherever he went. AJ faced extraordinary challenges throughout his life with remarkable strength and resilience, but those who knew and loved him will remember most the joy he shared, the love he received so freely, and the special way he touched the lives of those around him.
