We wanted to extend my sincere thanks to all of you for the extraordinary success of the crowdfunding campaign and the bourbon-and-cigars fundraiser supporting inclusion body myositis (IBM) research at The Johns Hopkins Myositis Center. What began as a grassroots effort among friends and supporters grew into something truly remarkable, raising close to $60,000 to advance IBM research.
Beyond the generosity itself, what struck me most was the incredible number of individuals who contributed through the crowdfunding page, as well as the wonderful spirit of the bourbon and cigar gathering. It was clear that everyone enjoyed the opportunity to share good conversation, laughter, friendship, and a common commitment to moving the field forward for people living with IBM. You combined warmth, hospitality, and purpose in a way that made both efforts deeply meaningful and truly memorable.
As physicians and researchers, we spend much of our time in clinics, laboratories, and meetings. It is especially inspiring to see people rally around this cause in such a personal, creative, and generous way.
