Parkinson’s Fight Continues: Honoring Stacy Karten’s Legacy

As many of you know, our friend Stacy Karten Passed away last year after nearly 20 years living with Parkinson's, and it's up to us to carry his vision forward.

We have two simple goals for Stacy Karten's "Stacy's Movers and Shakers" this year - and here they are…

    1. Let's keep the momentum going - the goal of finding a cure, teaching and offering support to those dealing with Parkinson's Disease - for both the patients and their families and friends. Any donations you can make are appreciated more than you can imagine.

    2. Let's keep Stacy's name front and foremost as we want to carry on his fight to find a cure of the horrible and non-discriminating scourge called Parkinson's Disease. Just a reminder, Stacy fought the good fight for 20 years with his fundraising efforts and his willingness to try just about anything and everything the doctors recommended - from pumps to implants, therapies and learning sessions that certainly might have benefited him, but equally important, helped those in teaching, research, practical applications and experimental concepts to help figure out how to address that horrible disease.

If we can continue to support Stacy's vision, the folks at Johns Hopkin's Pacing 4 Parkinson's can carry on and Stacy's efforts will continue to be an inspiration for others dealing with Parkinson's Disease. Something worth considering…

In keeping with the concept of "carrying on", we are again planning on our annual "Stacy K" - you know, shorter than a 10K and just a bit longer than a 5K hike/walk on an easy trail. Our theme, very simply stated, is to remember a great husband, dad, granddad, brother, uncle and friend and continue his work - and if you can contribute to P4P, that's a plus. If you are interested in participating in the Stacy K, taking place on Saturday, October 4th, please contact me at mlschneider8@verizon.net and I will be certain to share details with you.

Some folks are worth remembering for all the good they brought to the world – please, help us remember Stacy Karten.

Hope to see you on the trail!
