Join Us in Making Baltimore City a Model for Combatting Asthma!

The BREATHE Center is dedicated to improving lung health through research, community engagement, and advocacy.

In 2019, 262 million people suffered from asthma leading to 455,000 premature deaths. Asthma is underdiagnosed and undertreated in children from low-income families. Twenty percent of children in Baltimore city have asthma, which is twice the national average. Asthma also affects caregivers and their ability to work, as well as children’s ability to attend school. These have greater economic implications for the progress of Baltimore city.

Our goal is to change this by taking a comprehensive and community-based approach. The BREATHE Center is implementing interventions to improve home, school, and neighborhood environments to reduce asthma triggers. We are partnering with local schools, non-profits and religious organizations to provide resources to those suffering from asthma. Our clinicians are delivering personalized asthma care and our researchers are dedicated to providing cost-effective solutions to reduce emergency room visits and improve the lives of those living with asthma.

With your help, Baltimore city can become a model for providing equitable and affordable solutions to improving asthma. Please consider donating to the BREATHE Center to help make a difference for those suffering from asthma.
