What is Delt Dunk?
Delt Dunk is an annual 3v3 basketball tournament hosted by our fraternity, Delta Tau Delta, in support of the Robert Packard Center for ALS Research at Johns Hopkins. Matt White, a Delta Tau Delta Fraternity member from the graduating class of ‘89, was diagnosed with ALS in 2000, and unfortunately passed away in 2019. Matt held two things closer to his heart than anything else: basketball, and his relationships with others. In honor of Matt White, we put on this event every year not only in his memory, but to support the Robert Packard Center. These contributions fund research projects in search of a cure for ALS for so many others like Matt.
Why is Delt Dunk so important to our Fraternity?
Delt Dunk is an important event to our fraternity as it is a way to bring our brothers and the campus together in memory of our fraternity brother, Matt White. He was a special member of the fraternity who cared so much about others, was always there for brothers in need, and LOVED the game of basketball. This event encompasses all of those things that Matt loved in one awesome event, all while supporting the Robert Packard Center, which helps fund research projects for ALS. Carrying on this annual tradition is a way of remembering our brother, and also bringing the Butler Community closer through the great game and Indiana fame of basketball!
