Support the Breast Surgery Fellowship

Join us this October to raise money for the breast surgical oncology fellow working under the direction of Dr. Olutayo Sogunro. The fellow's work is focused on learning state of the art techniques in the surgical management of breast cancer, breast cancer genetics, medical and radiation oncology therapies, pathology interpretation, breast imaging technology and applications, metastatic breast cancer patients' needs, breast cancer survivorship care needs, short and long term side effects and the impact on quality of life. The fellow will participate in this research and learn leadership skills with the intent to lead a breast center in the future.

Our current fellow is Dr. Andrew Venardi. Dr. Venardi is grateful to be at Johns Hopkins this year, where he gets the opportunity to work with a wonderful group of people who also happen to be leaders in the breast oncology field.

Dr. Venardi completed a general surgery residency at Marshall University in West Virginia, a plastic surgery fellowship at Indiana University, and a microvascular reconstructive surgery fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania. While his dual breast oncology/plastics training is uncommon, he believes that it places him in a unique position to optimize coordination of care, improve surgical efficiency, and enhance the overall patient experience. He plans to offer complete breast oncologic care as well as the full spectrum of implant-based reconstruction, free autologous tissue-based reconstruction, lymphatic reconstruction, and nipple neurotization.

Outside of the hospital, Dr Venardi enjoys staying active, playing the occasional round of golf, traveling, and spending time with his two young nephews.

This breast cancer awareness month, we ask you to join us in supporting future leaders in the field of breast surgery!
