The Drs. M.L. Oyen

Our mom, Ann Oyen, was diagnosed with Parkinson’s last year, and we fundraise in her honor.

During the month of September, both of us will either run or walk a 10K.  But being overachievers, we couldn’t leave it there. We’re pretty different for being sisters, but we have always found we have some specific (sometimes random) things in common. Right now, one of them is a weird devotion to a specific wool clothing brand (wool&) that challenges customers to wear their clothes for 30 days straight.  SO in the month of September, we will both pick out one wool dress to wear every day… including during our 10K events.

Our rules:
1.    Dresses must be worn for a minimum of 8 hours each day
2.    If we leave home, we must be wearing the dress (i.e. no wearing it to sleep or some such!)
3.    Dresses must be worn for the 10K event or virtual run/walk
4.    We’ll share photos as we go through the month, but the silly 10K photos only get released if we meet our $500 goal.

Pacing for Parkinson’s (P4P) is a volunteer-led community that raises awareness of and funds for Parkinson’s disease research, education, outreach programs, and patient care at Johns Hopkins. P4P seeks to be inclusive and accessible to anyone affected by Parkinson’s disease, regardless of ability level. A large portion of the money raised goes directly to the Parkinson’s Disease and Movement Disorders Center. The remaining funds are put toward basic science research, training the next generation of care providers and researchers, and ensuring facilities are comfortable for patients and loved ones at Johns Hopkins Medicine.
2023 marks Pacing for Parkinson's 15th year of raising funds and awareness for Parkinson's Disease. Learn more about the history of Pacing for Parkinson's and get involved today!
